Vol. 370 No. 5

Written Answers. - Single European Act.

36.

asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs his views on whether the clauses in the Single European Act relating to economic convergence and cohesion require clarification as to their precise meaning; if he will be pursuing this in the Council; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I believe no such clarification is required and I would refer the Deputy to the explanatory guide to the Single European Act which was published by the Government on 16 November 1986 and which contains at paragraph 2.39 to 2.42 a summary of the provisions of the Single Act on Economic and Social Cohesion and the potential benefits of these provisions for this country.
