asked the Minister for Finance the total income from the European Regional Development Fund (special non-quota fund for county border areas) during the period 1981 to 1986.

In the period 1981 to 1986 to date Ireland received payments totalling 14.3 million ECU (IR£10.1 million) from the non-quota section of the European Regional Development Fund. A further 1.7 million ECU (IR£1.3 million) is due for payment before the end of the year. These payments represent the contribution from the European Regional Development Fund towards the cost of the special Border areas programme.
