Vol. 370 No. 5

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

144.

asked the Minister for Agriculture when sheep headage payments will be made to a person (details supplied) in County Cork for 1985 and 1986.

While the person named was not an applicant for sheep headage grants under the 1985 disadvantaged areas scheme, his father applied and was paid under that scheme. The person named and his brother have applied for sheep and cattle headage grants under the 1986 disadvantaged areas schemes and have also applied for separate herd numbers. The district veterinary office of my Department has deferred consideration of the applications for separate registration pending a further herd test this month to establish the status of the herds concerned. As it is a requirement of all sheep and cattle headage schemes that applicants be registered flock owners or herd owners, payment of 1986 grants cannot be considered further until the question of herd registration is settled.

asked the Minister for Agriculture when sheep headage payments will be made to a person (details supplied) in County Cork.

The person named has already been paid his 1985 ewe premium. As he had lowland grazings only and presented older ewes but no hogget ewes at inspection, he is not eligible under the 1986 disadvantaged areas scheme for sheep headage grants which are confined to hogget ewes in the case of lowland grazings.
