Vol. 370 No. 6

Order of Business.

It is proposed to take Nos. 19, 7 and 20.

By agreement, the Dáil shall sit later than 9 p.m. today and not later than 11.30 p.m. and business shall be interrupted at 11 p.m.

Also by agreement, the proceedings on the remaining Stages of No. 19 shall be brought to a conclusion not later than 1.30 p.m. today by one Question which shall be put from the Chair and which shall, in relation to amendments, include only amendments set down by the Minister for Communications.

Private Members' Business shall be No. 42.

Is the late sitting agreed and are the arrangements for taking item No. 19 agreed? Agreed.

I have no wish to be unmannerly or insistent about this matter——

I am sure you would not.

——but could the Taoiseach give us any idea as to when we can expect publication of the Book of Estimates for 1987?

Not easily. Work is progressing on it but there is a good deal more to be done. I cannot give the Deputy a date at this stage.

Could the Taoiseach give us any indication of how much more work is to be done and what form that work will take?

The Deputy is well aware of the type of work involved in preparing Books of Estimates.

(Interruptions.)

Deputy Bruton promised them some time ago for August but we did not know he meant next August.

The Deputy will appreciate that when a Government set out to produce a Book of Estimates all the relevant figures are based on solid decisions——

(Interruptions.)

One final question. Could the Taoiseach indicate whether he discussed the 1987 Estimates with Deputy Alice Glenn yesterday?

With your permission, Sir, I would like to raise on the Adjournment the dilemma of many families in my constituency who are being forced to deal at home with the medical and psychiatric needs of members of the family and relations and who are failing to get vacancies in hospitals for them.

I will communicate with Deputy Tunney.

In view of the fact that a house blew up in the Perrystown area of my constituency and that there are continuing complaints about serious leakages of gas in the Bluebell area I would like to raise on the Adjournment the question of the piping of gas in the Dublin area.

I will communicate with the Deputy.

I would like to raise on the Adjournment the subject matter of a question to the Minister for the Environment yesterday about the treatment by the Department of the Environment of the Cootehill Town Commissioners with regard to the refurbishing of old houses.

I will communicate with the Deputy.

I would like to raise on the Adjournment the subject matter of Question No. 14 of 18 November.

I will communicate with the Deputy.

I would like to raise on the Adjournment the question of the way to deal with special sea vessels of the south-west Cork coast?

I will communicate with the Deputy.

I would like to ask the Minister for Justice when it is intended to introduce the long promised Bill to amend the licensing laws.

In the very near future.
