Vol. 370 No. 7

Written Answers. - Running Costs of An Bord Pleanála.

46.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will make a statement on the disclosure in the recent annual report of An Bord Pleanála that its running costs increased last year by 40 per cent although the number of appeals it had to deal with was the lowest ever since its establishment; and the steps he proposes to take in the matter.

The annual report of An Bord Pleanála indicates that the overall cost of the board's operations increased from £1,589,090, in 1984 to £1,804,852 in 1985, an increase of 13.6 per cent and not 40 per cent. The increase of 13.6 per cent was mainly accounted for by expenditure on a programme of computerisation of the board's operations and on the application of the public service wage round.
