Vol. 370 No. 9

Written Answers. - Kenmare District Hospital.

152.

asked the Minister for Health when he will approve plans for the extension to Kenmare district hospital, County Kerry; when these proposal were submitted to him by the Southern Health Board; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

In June 1975 the Southern Health Board submitted proposals for a ten bed extension to Kenmare district hospital. However the proposal was not accorded a high priority by the board. The detailed plans for the scheme were submitted and approved in October 1979.

In January 1980 the board submitted tenders for this work. However, in view of other competing demands for capital spending in the Southern Health Board and the priority afforded the project by the board, it has not been possible to advance the scheme. Further progress will depend on the availability of moneys in the future and the priority afforded to it by the board.
