asked the Minister for the Environment when a £5,000 surrender grant and a £2,000 new house grant will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Wicklow.

Applications for the £5,000 surrender grant are dealt with by the appropriate local suthority up to the stage of certification for payment. The appropriate certificate has not yet been received in the Department in this case. The grant will be paid as soon as possible following receipt of the certificate. The £2,000 new house grant has been paid.

78.

asked the Minister for the Environment when an extra £1,000 new house grant will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Louth; if he is aware that the house was not occupied until August 1985, that the mortgage was initiated in October 1985 and that the majority of the interest plus construction costs accrued after 1 May 1985; and if he will arrange for outstanding payment to be made at an early date.

A £2,000 new house grant is payable in respect of a house, built otherwise than by contract, only where the house was not substantially completed before 1 May 1985. According to the information available to the Department this House was substantially completed by 1 May 1985. The documentation furnished to date by the applicant does not warrant payment of the higher rate of grant. However, on receipt of the additional evidence recently sought the case will be further considered.

asked the Minister for the Environment when a house improvement grant will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Carlow.

There is no record of the receipt of an application for a house improvement grant from the person named at the address given. However, an application has been received from a person with the same name and a broadly similar address. In that case payment of a grant will be further considered when the applicant furnishes the information which was requested from him on 15 November 1986.

85.
