Written Answers. - Housing Grants.

88.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will arrange an inspection in respect of a new house grant application of a person (details supplied) in County Laois, as the work is now completed.

The applicant has been requested to submit further documentation in support of his application and when this is received an inspection will be arranged.

89.

asked the Minister for the Environment when a grant for the installation of windows and doors to a person (details supplied) in Dublin 13 will be paid; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will reconsider the allocation of a house improvement scheme grant to a person (details supplied) in County Kerry in view of the fact that there is clear evidence that the windows which were replaced were in a rotten condition; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

This application was among those covered by the dispensation from prior inspection announced last February. The Department's inspector called to examine the completed works on two occasions on each of which the applicant was not at home. A further inspection will be carried out, by appointment, within the next few weeks.

91.

asked the Minister for the Environment when he will pay a house improvement grant to a person (details supplied) in County Wexford.

There is no record of the receipt of an application for a house improvement grant from the person named.

92.

asked the Minister for the Environment when he will pay a house improvement grant to a person (details supplied) in County Wexford.

There is no record of the receipt of an application for a house improvement grant from the person named at the address given. However, an application was received from a person with the same name from a broadly similar address. In that case a final inspection is being arranged with a view to payment of the grant.

93.

asked the Minister for the Environment his views on whether the amount of grant approved under the house improvement grant scheme to a person (details supplied) in County Wexford was inadequate and if he will have the case reviewed with a view to increasing the grant.

A grant amounting to £2,768 has been approved for a pre-1940 dwelling based in the normal way on the costs of the particular works as estimated by the Department's inspector using standard costings. Any information which the applicant may wish to furnish in support of a review of the amount of the grant will be examined by my Department.

94.

asked the Minister for the Environment when he will pay a new house grant and mortgage subsidy to a person (details supplied) in County Wexford.

A new house grant and mortgage subsidy cannot be paid in this case as, contrary to the conditions of the schemes, the application for the grant and subsidy was not received in the Department within one year from the date of occupation of the house.
