Vol. 370 No. 9

Written Answers. - Rosslare Harbour Proposed Lighting Scheme.

96.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he is aware of the grave dangers caused by the lack of lighting from the Lapps Hill, Rosslare Harbour, to Kilrane; if he is aware of the many accidents that have taken place because the route is not lighted; if he will provide lighting for this stretch of road in the immediate future; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Proposals for a lighting scheme for the Rosslare Harbour area have been received from Wexford County Council and are under consideration in my Department. However, I am not in a position to say what grants will be allocated to individual road schemes in 1987 pending the determination of the overall provision for road improvement grants in the context of the 1987 budget.

No proposal has been received in my Department for the extension of lighting to Kilrane.
