Written Answers. - Kildare Group Water Schemes.

Mr. Durkan

asked the Minister for the Environment the current position with regard to progress on group water schemes in County Kildare; the number of schemes admitted to his Department from within the county at the present time; the cost in each case; and the likely starting date for the works.

Up to 30 November 1986, 105 group water schemes serving 2,152 houses have been completed in County Kildare. At the moment there are five schemes, catering for approximately 900 houses, in progress with proposals for a further 12 schemes, serving approximately 490 houses, at various earlier stages of preparation. Details of these 12 proposals are set out below. It is not possible, at this stage, to say when work on these schemes will begin or to give the likely costs involved.

Kilmoney	13	The allocation of grants for this scheme is currently under consideration in my Department.
Ticknevin	4	The design for this scheme is being examined by Kildare County Council.
Castlewarden	8	My Department is examining.
Clonfert	10	This group is awaiting the construction of a reservoir by Kildare County Council for a water supply.
Mount Armstrong	80	This group is awaiting the construction of a reservoir by Kildare County Council for a water supply.
Kilkeasin	7	A design for this scheme is awaited in my Department.
Killybegs	39	The design for this scheme has been approved by my Department. Kildare County Council will now be asked whether the proposal is acceptable to them.
Kingsbog	12	A design for this scheme is awaited in my Department.
Kishawanny	25	The design for this scheme is being examined by my Department.
Painstown/Uachterard/ Pluckerstown/Sherlockstown	100	The design for this scheme has been approved by my Department. Kildare County Council will now be asked whether the proposal is acceptable to them.
Kilmeade	130	With proposed Public Scheme development in this area, the design for this group scheme will require changes. The group will be informed of these when my Department has consulted with Kildare County Council.
