Vol. 370 No. 11

Written Answers. - Carysfort College.

83.

asked the Minister for Education the present position with regard to negotiations between his Department, Carysfort College and other interested parties; and if he will give an indication as to governmental intentions towards the retention of the presence and ethos of the Mercy Order.

I set up a working group for the purpose of consulting with and receiving submissions from interested parties in the light of which firm proposals would be made to me and to the Government regarding the future role of Carysfort College as a third-level institution, its governance, structure and support from the State.

The working group are proceeding with the task and have received submissions from and had consultations with some of the interests involved. The group will of course, have to consider the position of the Mercy Order including the question of its involvement in any future role for the college.
