Vol. 370 No. 11

Written Answers. - Offaly School Transport.

85.

Mr. Cowen

asked the Minister for Education if arrangements have been made to provide fare-paying transport to Birr Convent national school for a person (details supplied) in County Offaly; and if under the circumstances this person living in a closed school area with no more accommodation in her nearest school, is in fact entitled to free school transport to her next nearest school, Birr, County Offaly.

It has been decided, in the particular circumstances of this case that the pupil in question may avail herself of fare-paying transport to Birr Convent national school, subject to the usual conditions governing concessionary transport. Under the terms of the school transport scheme she would not be eligible for free school transport to that school.
