Note regarding Customs Documentation Processed at Road Stations.

(a)Information regarding the number of Customs entries processed annually at road stations is not available. However, details of the number of trade transactions processed are available but only for the years after 1978. Each tariff code number quoted on an entry represents a trade transaction and while the number of trade transactions on an entry can vary significantly the average number of trade transactions on an import entry is 1.9.

(b)On 1st January, 1985, the Revenue Commissioners introduced a statistical threshold of £100 in trade statistics from which the details on the above tabular statement have been extracted. Accordingly, the 1985 figures do not include details of transactions less than £100 in value which, although processed for customs purposes, were excluded from the trade statistics, with the exception of transactions relating to (i) imports on which Customs, CAP charges or Excise duty is payable and (ii) imports into Customs bonded warehouses.

(c)For the year 1979 details of the transactions processed at Carrigans Road Station and Swanlinbar Road Station are not available as these figures were included in the 1979 figures for Bridgend and Clones respectively.
