Vol. 370 No. 13

Written Answers. - Departmental Bodies.

175.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will give details of the statutory bodies currently under the aegis of his Department; the total number of persons other than civil servants appointed by him to these bodies; the number of such persons whose current address is outside the State; and the total number of such persons with current addresses within each separate county in the State.

The information requested by the Deputy is set out in the following table.

There are four statutory bodies in question: the Central Bank, the Industrial Credit Corporation, the Agricultural Credit Corporation and Fóir Teoranta. Irish Life plc is also included in the table below, although it is a private company and not a statutory body, because the Minister is the majority shareholder and nominates most of the directors.

*In the case of the ACC, the Minister directly appoints three of the members; with his shareholding he supports the election of three others whom he has nominated.

In the case of Irish Life plc, the Minister does not directly appoint any of the board members: he nominates them, and with his majority shareholding he supports their election.
