asked the Minister for Justice in relation to the Kerry Babies Tribunal, if he will give the total expenditure by the State on this tribunal with a detailed breakdown of this expenditure including: (1) barristers' fees; (2) medical fees; (3) solicitors' fees; (4) stenographers' fees and/or salaries; (5) salaries of court staff; (6) general expenses and (7) the amount of VAT paid.

As I indicated in my reply to Question Number 22 on 19 November 1986, the total cost of the Tribunal of Inquiry into the Kerry babies case is estimated at £1,645,000. A breakdown of this expenditure, on the lines sought by the Deputy, is set out in the following statement:
