Vol. 370 No. 14

Order of Business.

It is proposed to take No. 20. By agreement, the Dáil shall sit later than 9 p.m. today and not later than 11.30 p.m., and business shall be interrupted at 11 p.m. Also by agreement, the amendments at present being discussed will be concluded not later than 12 noon today and also by agreement amendment No. 1 shall be brought to a conclusion not later than 1.30 p.m. today. Also by agreement the proceedings on the Committee Stage of No. 20 shall be brought to a conclusion not later than 7 p.m. today by one question which shall be put from the Chair and which shall, in relation to amendments, include only amendments set down by the Minister for Justice. Also by agreement the proceedings on the final Stages of No. 20 shall be bought to a conclusion not later than 11 p.m. today by one question which shall be put from the Chair and which shall, in relation to amendments, include only amendments set down by Minister for Justice. Private Members' Business shall be No. 42.

Is the late sitting agreed?

Are the arrangements for taking today's Business agreed?

Just for clarification, in relation to the two amendments is it "not later than 12 noon and not later than 1.30 p.m."?

Also by agreement the amendments at present being discussed will be concluded not later than 12 noon today. Also by agreement, amendment No. 1 shall be brought to a conclusion not later than 1.30 p.m. today. Also by agreement, the proceedings on the Committee Stage of No. 20 shall be brought to a conclusion not later than 7 p.m. today by one question which shall be put from the Chair. Agreed?

Before I agree, I should like to point out that the words "by agreement" have been used three or four times. Most of the amendments on the Order Paper are in my name but I was never consulted or asked anything in relation to them. The arrangements were made without any consultation with some Members of the House. There is nothing I can do about it at the moment.

The formula "by agreement" is really a question from the Chair on whether it is agreed or not. The Deputy may disagree at this stage if he likes.

The request for these arrangements was made and settled immediately before the House met, so it would not have been possible to inform anybody else. No discourtesy to anybody is intended.

I wish to raise on the Adjournment the future funding of long term social employment schemes in the Ballymun area.

I wish to raise on the Adjournment the craftsmen's dispute in Aer Lingus.

I will communicate with the Deputies.

Will the Taoiseach be outlining to the House the very serious situation for Irish agriculture as a result of the recent negotiations——

(Interruptions.)

Is he aware that the Minister for Agriculture delayed the proceedings to mislead our people and our farmers?
