Vol. 370 No. 15

Written Answers. - EHB Office Accommodation.

124.

asked the Minister for Health if in light of recent announcements that a new office block for the Eastern Health Board is to be built and the references in the 19th report of Dáil Committee on Public Expenditure to this development, this cost should, under the Department of Finance guidelines in relation to capital projects (circular 1/83) properly be considered in conjunction with the cost of the proposed Dublin Dental hospital.

The Eastern Health Board is planning new office accommodation to replace existing unsatisfactory accommodation on the St. James's Hospital site. While the demolition of some existing office buildings on the St. James's site will facilitate the provision of the dental hospital, the need for the new office block did not arise from the dental hospital project.

It would, therefore, be inappropriate to include the cost of the office accommodation as part of the cost of the dental hospital.
