Vol. 370 No. 15

Written Answers. - Male Dependants.

151.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare if she will remove the anomaly whereby male spouses are not being included on their female spouses' old age pension, if the female spouse is older; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

Under the provisions for equality of treatment of men and women in the social welfare system married women are now entitled to receive increases in payment in respect of adult dependants on the exact same basis as married men. The anomaly to which the Deputy refers has therefore now been removed.
