Vol. 370 No. 15

Written Answers. - Western Package Schemes.

24.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will direct immediately that an extension be granted to all applicants under the western package schemes to ensure that they can complete their work when the weather improves early next year; if he is aware of the serious difficulties being encountered by farmers who are applicants under these schemes due to the inclement weather over the past two years; if he will take immediate steps to alleviate their difficulties; if he will give at least a six month extension; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Applicants under the programme for western development (Western Package) who have difficulty completing schemes of work because of bad weather conditions should contact the local farm development service. No problem is envisaged with such approved schemes provided work is carried out to specifications laid down.
