Vol. 370 No. 15

Written Answers. - EC Subsidy.

40.

asked the Minister for Energy the reason the special EC subsidy under the western package scheme has not been paid to a full-time bona fide farmer (details supplied) in County Galway; if he will outline a detailed assessment of his agricultural income; if he will rescind this discriminatory decision immediately; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

An application made by the person referred to by the Deputy was rejected on 26 March 1985 as it was clear from the details provided by the applicant that grant aid was being sought in respect of a second house on a farm which was already supplied with electricity. Because of the EC regulations grant-aid under the western package electrification scheme is not payable in such cases. I would not regard it as appropriate for me to reveal details of an individual's income in the House.
