Vol. 370 No. 15

Written Answers. - Tax Rebates.

109.

asked the Minister for Finance when a tax rebate will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Wexford, and if he will expedite this.

I have been advised by the Revenue Commissioners that the taxpayer submitted a claim to the inspector of taxes on 20 October 1986, for repayment of tax on the grounds of unemployment. The claim has been dealt with and a cheque in settlement of the refund due was issued to the taxpayer on 12 December 1986.

110.

asked the Minister for Finance if in view of the fact that a person (details supplied) in Dublin 22 is awaiting a tax rebate for nine months, he will arrange with the Revenue Commissioners to have this money paid immediately.

I have been advised by the Revenue Commissioners that the inspector of taxes had been awaiting certain information from the taxpayer's former employer to establish whether the taxpayer was assessable for 1985-86 on the benefit-in-kind in respect of a company car. On the basis of information now available to the inspector, the taxpayer's claim have been dealt with and a cheque in settlement of the refund due will be issued to him as quickly as possible.

111.

asked the Minister for Finance the refund of income tax, if any, which will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Roscommon.

I have been advised by the Revenue Commissioners that, on the basis of the information supplied, they are unable to trace the taxpayer in their records. If the taxpayer's correct revenue and social insurance (RSI) number is supplied to his inspector, together with any additional information which the inspector may require, the matter will be examined.

112.

asked the Minister for Finance the reason a refund of income tax has not been paid to a person (details supplied) in County Galway; if he will now direct immediate payment; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I have been advised by the Revenue Commissioners that the taxpayer's claim for repayment of tax falls to be dealt with by way of a review of his tax liability for 1985-86. The inspector of taxes will not be in a position to carry out the review until such time as he receives the details necessary to determine the taxpayer's farming profits, if any, for that year. The required information was requested from the taxpayer in February 1986 and in April 1986. The inspector will now again communicate with him in the matter.

113.

asked the Minister for Finance the reason a refund of inheritance tax has not been paid to a person (details supplied) in County Galway; If he will now direct that this money be paid immediately; the date and amount of payment; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I have been advised by the Revenue Commissioners that they made a refund of £770 in this case on 20 November 1986.
