Vol. 371 No. 2

Written Answers. - Galway Emergency Helicopter Service.

184.

asked the Minister for Defence if it is proposed to establish a helicopter ambulance/rescue service operating from Galway and when this service will be introduced.

Limerick West): As indicated by my predecessor to the Deputy in the Dáil on 16 December last, it is not possible to consider basing an emergecny helicopter service in Galway at the present time.

A helicopter will be on 24 hour standby at Casement Aerodrome, Baldonnel, County Dublin, when the Dauphin aircraft become fully operational later this year. It is intended that this service will respond to search and rescue and air ambulance requests from all locations.
