Vol. 371 No. 2

Written Answers. - County Waterford Water and Sewerage Schemes.

144.

asked the Minister for the Environment the total sum allocated to Waterford County Council for public water supply in 1986.

Waterford County Council's 1986 capital allocation for public water supply schemes was £600,000.

145.

asked the Minister for the Environment the schemes submitted to his Department by Waterford County Council for water and sewerage schemes in County Waterford; the number approved; the amount of money allocated; and the names of the schemes that will commence this year.

The following schemes are at present with my Department:—

Preliminary Reports under consideration

1. Portlaw sewerage scheme

2. Tallow sewerage scheme

Contract documents under consideration

1. Cheekpoint sewerage scheme

Contract documents were approved for the Ballinroad sewerage scheme on 19 February 1987. It is not possible to say when work will commence on this scheme as Waterford County Council have yet to seek tenders for the scheme.

The council's 1987 small water and sewerage schemes programme contains proposals for 28 small schemes. When their programme has been examined it will be a matter for the local authority to select the schemes from within the approved programme which they wish to carry out having regard to the available capital.

I expect to be in a position to issue the 1987 sanitary services capital allocations in the near future.
