Vol. 371 No. 2

Written Answers. - Galway Group Water Supply Schemes.

160.

asked the Minister for the Environment the present position regarding the Taramuid group water supply scheme, Clarinbridge, County Galway.

This group water scheme is dependent on a water supply from the Mid-Galway regional water supply scheme (zone 3) Galway County Council's revised proposals for zone 3 are currently under consideration in my Department.

161.

asked the Minister for the Environment the reason for the delay in giving approval for the commencement of work on the construction of No. 2 production borehole water wells at Lough Curra South, County Galway in connection with the Kinvara regional water supply scheme and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The local authority's proposal for the acceptance of a tender for the two production boreholes at Lough Curra South was approved on 24 July 1986, as a preliminary part of the Kinvara regional water supply scheme. The further implementation of this part of the scheme is a matter for Galway County Council.

162.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will approve the contract documents and sanction tenders for the works regarding the pumping station reservoir at Northampton and trunk water mains to Kinvara, County Galway, in connection with the Kinvara regional water supply scheme.

There are no tenders for this scheme with my Department.

Contract documents for four contracts of Stage 1 of this scheme are under consideration in my Department at present. Galway County Council have yet to confirm the completion locally of all preliminary arrangements. Until this confirmation is received the question of a decision on the contract documents does not arise.
