Vol. 371 No. 3

Written Answers. - Dublin Nursing Home.

34.

asked the Minister for Health if he will investigate an incident regarding a nursing home (details supplied) in County Dublin; if he will give details of what can be done to assist the person concerned; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

35.

asked the Minister for Health if he will investigate fully the allegations regarding a nursing home (details supplied) in County Dublin; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 34 and 35 together. I have had the incident referred to investigated and I am satisfied that it resulted from a breakdown in communications between the referring doctor and the home concerned. The policy of the home of accepting only ambulant patients was apparently not made clear to the doctor.

Arrangements have been made by the Eastern Health Board to have the patient assessed by a consultant geriatrician later this week with a view to placement in a unit where the level of care will be appropriate to her condition. I have made arrangements to have the Deputies informed of the outcome.
