Vol. 371 No. 5

Written Answers. - Dublin School Staffing.

182.

asked the Minister for Education if she will give consideration to the request by St. Mary's girls' national school, Dublin 3, for the appointment of a concessionary teacher to the school for a few months, in view of the fact that the enrolment numbers will be adequate after summer for a permanent appointment along these lines; and if she is aware of the local support outlined in a recent petition by parents and friends of the school in this respect.

The current enrolment in this school is substantially below the level required to re-establish the post of second assistant.

My Department's position has already been explained in response to representations in this matter.

It would not be open to me to depart from the requirements of the rules in the case.
