Vol. 371 No. 5

Written Answers. - County Kerry Schools.

184.

asked the Minister for Education if she will sanction a grant for a new school at Kilcummin, Inchicullane, Killarney, County Kerry.

In 1984 my Department sanctioned a grant towards the cost of the proposed improvements and extension to the national school at Kilcummin, Inchicullane, Killarney, County Kerry. Contract documents for the project have been completed and the invitation of tenders will now be considered in the light of my Department's financial allocation for primary school buildings in 1987.

185.

asked the Minister for Education the present position regarding the proposed new community school for Kenmare, County Kerry; whether a green field site will be made available for same; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

The present position regarding the proposed new community school for Kenmare is that architectural planning of the development is proceeding in my Department.

The community school will be developed on the Holy Cross secondary school site and will utilise some of the secondary schools's existing good facilities. Some new buildings will also be provided. The proposed development will provide accommodation of a high quality and character.

The question of providing the community school on a green field site does not, therefore, arise.
