asked the Minister for Finance the steps he is taking to commence the arterial drainage of the Mulcair catchment area, County Limerick in the immediate future in view of the frequent severe flooding which has endangered life and caused severe damage to farmers and householders.

The design of a drainage scheme for the Mulcair catchment is in hands but at this stage I am not in a position to say when works might commence.
