Vol. 371 No. 5

Written Answers. - Prisoner's Medical Report.

32.

asked the Minister for Justice if he is aware of the concern and distress of parents of a person (details supplied) in County Dublin who is in detention, if his Department have been furnished with the results of tests carried out by the Mater Hospital on this patient; if so, if Deputy Fitzgerald can have a copy of this report immediately; the plans his Department have to provide adequate medical care for the person in the immediate future; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The question relates to a person serving a sentence in St. Patrick's Institution. It would be improper for me to supply details from any medical report that there may be about an individual offender.

The offender in question is in the care of the prison medical officer and, as the Deputy appears to be aware, has had some treatment in hospital but has been discharged. I am informed that the medical officer is arranging to meet the offender's parents to discuss his case.
