Vol. 371 No. 5

Written Answers. - Milk Cessation Scheme.

44.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will approve the application of a person (details supplied) in County Wexford for the milk cessation scheme in view of the fact that the cessation scheme is undersubscribed in her co-operative; that this will lead to compulsory cutbacks in milk quotas, and that her application was refused because of a technical error.

The application of the person referred to was not received in the Department until after the closing date of 15 February 1987 and, therefore, could not be considered.

45.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if a person (details supplied) in County Wexford will be allowed to withdraw from the milk cessation scheme in view of his changed circumstances; and if he will facilitate a pragmatic approach in this regard in relation to new applications and late withdrawals.

The application form for the cessation scheme clearly stated that withdrawals could only take place if the applicant notified the Department in writing and obtained an acknowledgment to that effect before 31 January 1987. The notice of withdrawal from the person referred to was not received until after that date and, therefore, could not be accepted.
