Vol. 371 No. 5

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

47.

asked the Minister for Agriculture the reason for the delay in paying cow and calf subsidies to a person (details supplied) in County Wexford.

The person named has been paid his 1986 calf premium grant already and he will be paid his 1986 suckler cow premium shortly. As these payments are being made with many others there is no particular delay in the case.

48.

asked the Minister for Agriculture when a calf to beef subsidy will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Galway.

It is a condition of the calf to beef scheme that the calves purchased must be retained on the farm for at least two years after an applicant is accepted into the scheme. The applicant in question did not observe this requirement and, accordingly, does not qualify for an interest subsidy under the scheme.
