Vol. 371 No. 5

Written Answers. - Milk Cessation Scheme.

52.

asked the Minister for Agriculture the reason an application for inclusion in the milk cessation scheme made by a person (details supplied) in County Tipperary has been refused when nine others were accepted; and if he will reconsider the matter.

The selection of applications for the scheme from oversubscribed areas was based on the date of receipt in the Department of the applications i.e. on a "first come first served" basis. The application of the person referred to was not received until after the "cut off" date for her co-operative. She will be eligible for consideration for the cessation scheme to apply from 1 April 1988.

53.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if a person (details supplied) in County Tipperary will be allowed withdraw from the milk cessation scheme, as circumstances have changed.

The application form for the cessation scheme clearly stated that withdrawals could only take place if the applicant notified the Department in writing and obtained an acknowledgment to that effect before 31 January 1987. The notice of withdrawal from the person referred to was not received until after that date and, therefore, could not be accepted.
