Vol. 372 No. 3

Written Answers. - Naas (Kildare) County Hospital.

13.

asked the Minister for Health the current position with regard to the proposed extension to the County Hospital, Naas, County Kildare; whether it is proposed to proceed with the extension and upgrading of facilities as planned; the schedule for the provision of these facilities; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The development control plan for the full development of the site was received in my Department in December 1986. The plan includes four phases consisting of — (a) Psychiatric Unit and Boiler House; (b) Accident and Emergency Department, Out-Patient Department and Limited Surgical Service; (c) Full surgical service including back-up facilities; (d) Medical services — coronary care unit.

Detailed planning of the first phase has been completed and tenders have been submitted to the health board and are being examined by the design team. These are expected in my Department shortly at which time further consideration will be given to the schedule for the provision of these facilities.
