My Department operates an annual scheme of financial assistance to national, and major regional, youth organisations known as the youth service grant scheme. This year a sum of £2,034,000 is being made available by way of Exchequer provision for the purposes of that particular scheme and for other expenditure in relation to youth.
While grant allocations to youth organisations under the scheme have not yet been finalised, payments totalling £1,345,000 approximately have been issued to-date by my Department in accordance with the terms of the scheme.
