asked the Minister for Education the up-to-date position regarding the provision of a permanent extension and improvement works at Ring national school, Dungarvan, County Waterford.

Tender documentation prepared by the school board chairman's architect for the proposed extension to Ring national school, County Waterford, has been lodged with my Department. Because of the extent to which my Department's 1987 allocation of capital for the national school building programme had already been committed prior to my assuming office, I am not in a position at this stage to say when tenders will be invited for the project.

asked the Minister for Education the up-to-date position regarding the proposed extension and improvement works to the girls' national school Mercy Convent, Dunmore East, County Waterford.

In July 1986 my Department sanctioned a grant for a proposed new building for the Mercy Convent national school, Dunmore East, County Waterford. Working drawings have been prepared by the school board chairman's architect and my Department now awaits submission of the bill of quantities. The question of authorising the school authorities to invite tenders for the project will then arise for consideration.

asked the Minister for Education the up-to-date position regarding the proposed permanent extension and improvements to Abbeyside national school, Dungarvan, County Waterford.

My Department is agreeable in principle to grant-aid the necessary extension of and improvements to Abbeyside national school, Dungarvan, County Waterford. A sketch scheme for the project already prepared by my Department's professional advisers is to be discussed with the school authorities with a view to examining the long term accommodation needs of the school. My Department is in process of seeking recommendations from its professional advisers as to grant eligibility of improvements carried out at the school.

asked the Minister for Education the up-to-date position regarding improvement works to the existing national school at Clashmore, County Waterford.

My Department's professional advisers have been asked to report on improvement works necessary to maintain the existing accommodation in serviceable condition pending a decision on the proposed extension applied for at Clashmore national school, County Waterford.

asked the Minister for Education the up-to-date position regarding improvement works to the national school at Villierstown, Cappoquin, County Waterford.

My Department has in recent years sanctioned grants towards the cost of providing various improvements at Villierstown national school, Cappoquin, County Waterford, the most recent being a grant towards the cost of installing supplementary heating in the school. The actual carrying out of these improvements is a matter for the chairman of the board of management of the school in consultation with my Department's local professional advisers.

asked the Minister for Education the up-to-date position regarding the erection of a new vocational school at Dungarvan, County Waterford.

The Stage 3 submission, development sketch scheme, has been examined and is satisfactory subject to a number of amendments. The next stage is the preparation of working drawings. As with all school projects at second level the rate at which this project can proceed must be reviewed in the context of the capital resources available.

asked the Minister for Education the up-to-date position regarding the proposed permanent extension to the boys' national school at Currabaha, Kilmacthomas County Waterford.

Tenders for the construction of the proposed extension to the boys' national school at Currabaha, Kilmacthomas, County Waterford, are being examined by the Department's professional advisers. Subject to the outcome of this examination being satisfactory, the question of placing a contract for the project will be considered in the light of the availability of the necessary capital in due course.

Preparation of the tender documentation for the proposed extension to Whitechurch national school, Cappagh, County Waterford, has been completed. Because of the extent to which my Department's 1987 allocation of capital for the national school building programme had already been committed prior to my assuming office. I am not in a position at this stage to say when tenders will be invited for the project.
