Vol. 372 No. 4

Written Answers. - Farm Modernisation Scheme.

55.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when a grant under the old farm development scheme will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Kerry.

The person mentioned received approval on 24 April 1979 under the farm modernisation scheme for a dairy complex and equipment, machinery house, yards, walls, cattle crush and effluent tank. An inspection in June 1982 revealed that the approved works were completed except for the effluent tank. As payment of grant aid for capital expenditure with a pollution potential can be made only where adequate waste storage is provided, he was advised that, unless all the approved works (including the effluent tank were completed by 30 June 1983 grant aid could not be paid under the farm modernisation scheme for any of the investments. As he failed to meet the specified completion date, he has lost entitlement to grant aid for all of the investments undertaken.
