asked the Minister for the Environment if a house improvement grant will be paid to a person (details supplied) in Dublin 12 who is on a bridging loan which is accruing a large amount of interest; if he will ensure that the grant issues without further delay; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The grant will be paid as soon as possible.

The first instalment of £1,000 mortgage subsidy will be paid as soon as possible.

A grant has already been approved in this case. A further inspection is being arranged with a view to payment of the grant as approved.

A mortgage subsidy cannot be approved in this case as the contract to purchase the house was not entered into before the scheme was terminated on the 1 October 1986.
