Vol. 372 No. 5

Written Answers. - Certificate of Tax-free Allowance.

49.

asked the Minister for Finance the reason a tax-free allowance for the old age pension of a person (details supplied) in County Wexford was recently reduced.

I have been advised by the Revenue Commissioners that, following the recent receipt by the Inspector of Taxes of information concerning the taxpayer's expected levels of income for 1987-88, an amended certificate of tax-free allowances, incorporating marginal relief, will be issued to the taxpayer as soon as possible.

Any tax overdeducted from the taxpayer's local authority pension will be refunded by the payer of the pension when the amended certificate is put into operation.
