asked the Minister for the Environment the reason for the delay in payment of a £5,000 house surrender grant to a person (details supplied) in Dublin 22.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will ensure that a £5,000 grant is paid to persons (details supplied) in Dublin; who have been waiting four months for it and are on bridging finance; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I propose to take Question Nos. 46 and 50 together.

Confirmation that these applicants have complied with the conditions of the scheme has been received and the grants will be paid as soon as possible.

asked the Minister for the Environment the exact date on which a house improvement grant will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Cork who installed windows in August 1986, submitted a certificate of completion shortly afterwards and who has not yet been paid.

asked the Minister for the Environment the reason the application for a house improvement grant of a person (details supplied) in Dublin 24 was refused.

As an inspection was not carried out on or before 27 March 1987 the application had to be disallowed.

asked the Minister for the Environment if a person (details supplied) in County Wexford will receive approval for a £5,000 surrender grant in view of the fact that he had entered into a contract before 27 March 1987.

Applications for the £5,000 surrender grant are handled by the relevant local authority up to the stage of certification for payment. The appropriate certificate has not been received in the Department in this case.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will increase the amount of grant already approved for a person (details supplied) in County Cork following a second inspection; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The amount of the grant has been revised subject to the carrying out of additional works. The applicant has been so informed.

asked the Minister for the Environment when a person (details supplied) in County Cork will receive payment of a house improvement grant.

Maximum grants in respect of the carrying out of necessary works to a pre-1940 dwelling and the provision of a kitchen extension will be paid as soon as possible. Payment of the remaining grants approved must await the receipt of additional information relating to the carrying out of the works requested from the applicant.

asked the Minister for the Environment in view of the fact that works had not been carried out on a bathroom when an inspector called if he will confirm the amount of a house improvement grant, a person (details supplied) in County Cork will receive.

A grant of £800 has been approved for window-door replacement. However, a grant for a bathroom cannot be allowed as, contrary to a condition of the scheme, the work had commenced prior to an inspection.

There has been no undue delay. The grant will be paid as soon as possible.

A grant cannot be allowed in this case as a period of ten years had not elapsed from the date of the erection of the house.

asked the Minister for the Environment if a person (details supplied) in County Waterford has received approval for a house improvement grant as the seven year waiting period has now lapsed and an inspection has already taken place; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The application had to be rejected as the waiting period of seven years from the date of payment of a previous improvement grant had not expired.
