Vol. 372 No. 10

Written Answers. - Clondalkin (Dublin) Community Council Project.

224.

asked the Minister for Labour if he has received a request to meet a deputation from Clondalkin Community Council, Dublin 22; if so, if he will accept the request, so as to consider with the community council the asistance AnCO, the Youth Employment Agency, National Manpower Service and other agencies of his Department may give to the community council in their "Clondalkin News" project; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I have received a request to meet with a deputation from the Clondalkin Community Council concerning their proposal to establish a local newspaper called the "Clondalkin News".

I understand that during 1986 the council contacted both AnCO and the Youth Employment Agency and were asked to provide detailed proposals for their project. To date these have not been received. In the circumstances, I would suggest that, as a first step, the council should contact these agencies again regarding the information requested by them after which the various possibilities for providing assistance would be discussed.

I do not consider that a meeting with me would be of benefit at this stage.
