Vol. 372 No. 10

Written Answers. - Carbery (Sligo) School Repairs.

245.

asked the Minister for Education if her attention has been drawn to the urgent need to carry out repairs to the roof of Carbery national school, County Sligo, and that any delay would cause serious deterioration of the whole building; and when repair and renovation work will commence.

I am aware of the unsatisfactory condition of the roof of Carbery national school, County Sligo. This school was erected in 1977 under the supervision of an architect in private practice engaged by the school authorities. My Department is at present examining a technical report commissioned by the school authorities on the matter, and the recommendations made for remedial works. A decision on whether the works will in all the circumstances of the case be eligible for grant-aid will be conveyed to the school authorities at the earliest possible date.

I am not in a position, at this stage, to state when any works may commence.
