Vol. 372 No. 10

Written Answers. - Ballybricken (Limerick) Amenity Grant.

250.

asked the Minister for Education if she will authorise payment of an amenity grant for Ballybricken Community Association, County Limerick, which was applied for in the name of a person (details supplied) last year.

In recent years the demand for aid under my Department's capital grant scheme for the provision of recreational facilities has greatly exceeded the resources available for the scheme. It was not possible to accede to an application made by Ballybricken Community Association in 1985 for a grant towards the cost of a project. When their case for grant was being considered in the context of the 1986 allocation it was found that the project was already almost completed and was not, therefore, eligible for a grant under the scheme.
