asked the Minister for Education the present departmental requirements for actual teaching class contact hours per week for the following categories of staff: (1) principal, (2) vice-principal, (3) "A" post holder, (4) "B" post holder and in the following categories of school: (a) secondary, (b) community, (c) comprehensive, (d) vocational, and (e) community college.

In secondary schools the position is as follows:

A principal of a school with more than 60 pupils is not required to teach. A principal of a school with less than 60 pupils must teach for at least ten hours per week.

Vice-principals must be timetabled for at least: 15 hours per week in schools with less than 300 pupils, ten hours per week in schools with between 300 and 600 pupils, eight hours per week in schools with more than 600 pupils.

"A" and "B" post holders must be timetabled for at least 18 hours per week.

In community and comprehensive schools and in vocational schools (including community colleges) the position is as follows:—

A Grade A post of responsibility holder is required to teach 18 hours per week and a Grade B holder must teach 21-23 hours per week.
