Vol. 372 No. 11

Written Answers. - Elimination of Duplicate Means Tests.

34.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare the way in which he plans to implement the commitment by his party to eliminate duplicate means tests carried out by both health boards and his Department; and the timescale and administrative arrangements for any measures he proposes in this regard.

The Minister for Health has recently written to me proposing discussions between officials of his and my Departments and also of the health boards, to follow up on the commitment in the Programme for National Recovery to deal with this matter. Steps have already been taken to get the discussions underway and the timescale and administrative arrangements for measures to implement the commitment will be considered when the report of the working group has been received.
