The number of persons employed in the Department of Finance at 30 April 1987 was 718.
The role of each employee is to contribute towards the implementation of my Department's policies and activities and to assist and advise me in carrying out my responsibilities to the Oireachtas as Minister for Finance.
Details of the numbers employed at 30 April of each of the years from 1980 to 1986 inclusive are not available. The table below gives details of the total numbers employed in the Department of Finance and the Department of the Public Service (now amalgamated with the Department of Finance) as at 31 December for each of the years 1980 to 1986 inclusive.
