Vol. 372 No. 12

Written Answers. - Social Welfare Schemes.

75.

asked the Minister for Health if he has satisfied himself that after the changes in the rules governing the prescribed relative allowance scheme of the Department of Social Welfare, that this scheme and the care allowance scheme operated by health boards are consistent with the development of day care centres supported by his Department; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The rules governing the prescribed relative allowance scheme are a matter for the Minister for Social Welfare and I am not aware of any changes made to them recently. Day care centres are a part of the community support services provided for the handicapped and the elderly who require such services and their operation is not affected by social welfare payments or by allowances provided by the health boards.
