asked the Minister for Health his views on major surgery being provided free on an out-patient basis in voluntary hospitals for patients in adjoining private hospitals; and the plans, if any, there are to change the procedures or entitlement.
Written Answers. - Public Hospital Charges to Private Patients.
83.
A person who enters a private hospital has exercised his choice and decided not to avail of services under section 52 or section 56 of the Health Act, 1970. Where services are provided by a public voluntary hospital to a patient in an adjoining private hospital an appropriate charge is made. I am satisfied that the present arrangements are adequate. If the Deputy has evidence to the contrary I would be glad to have it investigated.
