Vol. 372 No. 12

Written Answers. - Health Agencies Income.

93.

asked the Minister for Health if he will outline the sources of other income of health agencies which in 1986 totalled £43.5 million; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The sources of other income of health agencies which yielded an estimated £43.5 million in 1986 are mainly: (1) Superannuation deductions for the Voluntary Hospitals Superannuation Scheme; (2) Emoluments; (3) Canteen charges; (4) Other sales, e.g. farm produce; (5) Services provided to other agencies; e.g. food hygiene and water quality inspections.

In 1987 it is estimated that £60.1 million will be raised from the above sources and from the new charges for out-patient attendance, public ward levy and from charging consultants for the use of public facilities.
