Vol. 373 No. 2

Written Answers. - State Bodies Bad Debts.

275.

asked the Minister for Health the provision for bad and doubtful debts made on the accounts of each State body or agency under his control in their most recent annual accounts and in the equivalent accounts for 1982.

Only one agency under my control, the National Blood Transfusion Service Board, made provision for bad debts in the years referred to. The provisions included in 1982 and 1986 were £26,402 and £26,043 respectively. Only debts deemed to be irrecoverable are charged to the accounts of the voluntary hospitals.
