Vol. 373 No. 2

Written Answers. - Howth (Dublin) Low Water Pressure Problem.

17.

asked the Minister for the Environment if his attention has been drawn to the recent problems experienced by Dublin fire services in fighting fire on Howth Hill, County Dublin, as a result of low water pressure; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I understand that the fire in question was a gorse fire which was attended by units from the Dublin Corporation Fire Brigade. I am informed that an adequate supply of water was available for the purpose of bringing the fire under control. However, as a result of the demand made by the fire brigade, residents in the area experienced temporary water shortages due to the depletion of the water reservoir.
